This week (June 6-7, 2012) we are at the 2012 Sensors Expo – the North American conference focused on Sensors and Sensor Integrated Systems – located at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois.
Partnering with the MEMs Industry Group and the IEEE, the Sensor’s Expo conference program spans over 60 sessions in 9 Tracks including: Applied Sensing, Energy Harvesting, Measurement & Detection, MEMS, Mobile Sensing, RFID/M2M, Sensor & System Design, Wireless Sensing, and Big Data & Analytics.
At this year’s Sensors Expo, Finisar is exhibiting at booth 523. Pritha Khurana, Product Line Manager at Finisar will be at the booth showcasing our laser product line – including our high volume Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) technology. Manufactured in our Allen, Texas facility, Finisar is recognized as the worldwide leader in VCSEL manufacturing and technology and continues to lead the commercial application of VCSELs with a broad product offering of components for the data communications industry.

For the first time, Finisar exhibited at the Cable-Tec Expo held at Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center from November 15-17, 2011. The overall attendance increased by 24 percent at the premiere trade show of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE); topping 10,000 attendees. In addition to the strong attendance from the United States, international attendance was up 21 percent from more than 60 countries.
Finisar displayed its latest fiber optic products to Multiple System Operators (MSO) and network equipment providers. A live demonstration was shown of Finisar’s EPON ONU SFP which allows service providers to utilize standard switches, routers and other customer premises equipment (CPE) to connect directly to PON networks. The demonstration showed video being carried over an EPON network with 20km of optical fiber being received into Finisar’s ONU SFP installed in a common Ethernet media convertor. Finisar also showed its GPON version of the ONU SFP.
Attendees were also impressed with Finisar’s wavelength tunable XFP modules that cover the entire C-band wavelength range, leading optical passives for PON networks, and RF-over-Fiber products that natively carry RF signals up to 40 GHz.

Coined as the industry’s engineering show of the year, the 2011 Cable-Tec Expo will be held next week in Atlanta, GA (Nov. 15-17) and is sure to be bustling with activity. Put on by the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, the conference provides access to the latest in cable technology, products, and services with more than 40 technical sessions and exhibitors from more than 50 countries.
Finisar will be located at booth #422, and we welcome you to stop by to hear about our latest developments with EPON, RF-Over-Fiber and Passives products. At the booth, we’ll be demonstrating our EPON stick – Plug and play video transmission over EPON.
See you there!
Next week (November 14-17, 2011) Finisar will hightailing it to the Pacific Northwest for some HPC action at this year’s SuperComputing 2011 conference in Seattle, Washington. Now in its 24th year, SC11 is all about “Connecting Communities through HPC”. In order to build a larger, more diverse, knowledgeable and skilled community, this year’s conference is focusing on innovating HPC applications and advancing scientific discovery for the local, regional, national and global society.
While there will be much to do at SC11, we hope you’ll take some time to stop by the Finisar Exhibit Booth (#2634) where a few of our High-Speed Optics experts will be available to discuss company updates, in addition to trends in High Performance Computing (HPC) and Datacenters. During the exhibition, we especially look forward to sharing with you some demos and the latest technology developments in our active optical cable line.
Another booth to check out is the joint-hosted InfiniBand Trade Association (IBTA) and OpenFabrics Alliance (OFA) (booth #6010) where you’ll find a presentation taking place from our very own Steffen Koehler around “Active Optical Cables and Transceivers of InfiniBand QDR and FDR”.
Still not quite convinced to make the trek? Then be sure to check out this welcome video the SuperComputing team pulled together around next week’s show. It’s sure to put a smile on your face and a longing for Seattle’s Best in your mind.
Don’t forget to register today, and hope to see you at the show!
As a member of the InfiniBand Trade Association (IBTA), Finisar is participating in the IBTA/ OpenFabrics Alliance (OFA) booth at Supercomputing 2011 taking place in Seattle, Washington November 12-18.
We invite you to stop by the OFA/IBTA booth (#6010) to experience the booth’s demo discussing protocol performance, network efficiency, fair bandwidth allocation and application latency when using the OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution (OFED) and Lustre file system between InfiniBand clusters at distances of more than 3,000 miles utilizing a 40Gbps transcontinental WAN connection.
The booth offers insightful presentations, including a presentation from our own Steffen Koehler, “Active Optical Cables and Transceivers of InfiniBand QDR and FDR,” and you will have the opportunity to talk with experts, industry stakeholders well-versed in InfiniBand, OFED and other open sourcing systems, in our expert round table taking place in the booth. To see the complete schedule, please visit the IBTA website.
