VCSELs (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers) are semiconductor lasers which are effecting advances in optical communication, and sensor applications.

Serial and parallel VCSELs for high-speed, reliable fiber optic data communications enable computer networks to reliably transmit at data rates up to and beyond 10Gb/s.
