Test Tools Suite

We have been actively using Finisar NetWisdom Probes and Analyzers to identify the specific issues causing application disruptions, allowing us to focus our energies on resolving the root cause of the problems. This has eliminated finger pointing and substantially reduced resolution cycle time. By utilizing Finisar rovers, we now extend the reach of NetWisdom solution across a larger section of our SAN to further improve our ability to prevent and resolve potential application issues.

Initial Evaluation

Medusa Labs provides initial evaluation services for products to establish a baseline of the product's functionality, data integrity, stress testing, usability, inter-operability, and performance. This information is used to determine how the product stacks up against competitive products and to determine the scope of any further testing required. Upon completion of the initial evaluation, Medusa Labs will recommend a path for the products continued testing in the functional, product, or enterprise levels and will describe and categorize the issues discovered in the evaluation.

The evaluation will generally include the following areas. The ability to complete a thorough evaluation is highly dependent on the current capabilities of the device(s) and the issues encountered.

Functional Evaluation

An evaluation of the device's ability to perform as expected by an educated user. Evaluation of the feature set will be limited to those features deemed most critical to the functionality of the device. Basic adherence to the protocols, specifications, environments, and standards for which it was designed (Specification compliance will not be tested.)

Data Integrity and Stress Testing

The device will be subjected to high stress I/O tests of increasing magnitude in order to baseline the extent to which the device can be 'pushed' in an enterprise environment. The ability to transfer data in an accurate and timely manner without limiting bottlenecks will be monitored. Stress testing will be conducted with the Medusa Labs Test Tool Suite, which includes comprehensive data integrity analysis.

Interoperability Evaluation

Interoperability with other devices in a bound, predefined configuration. This testing will be performed using common enterprise devices.

Performance Evaluation

Basic evaluation of maximum and minimum performance with sequential/random reads, writes, and full duplex I/O.
