Assessment service looks deep into the physical
layer of your SAN infrastructure to find the source of performance
problems and faults, and to uncover known and unknown problems on your
SAN. It surveys all levels of connectivity to determine possible Fibre
Channel communication issues, compares and analyzes configurations that
are most apt to cause intermittent infrastructure performance issues
and slowdowns, measures the system's performance, and assesses its
overall capacity characteristics, including the distribution of the
load across the SAN.
Replication AssessmentFinisar's
Replication Assessment
service can help confidently plan and execute
replication projects, anticipate and prevent potential issues, and
efficiently diagnose remote replication problems. If the replication
links are managed by outside vendors, the Replication Assessment
service provides precise measurements of the true latencies across the
links, in order to verify that access providers are meeting their
Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The Replication Assessment can be
implemented during pre-production to test the links before start-up, or
completed on active links to verify performance or troubleshoot
problems.
Application Assessment

Assessment service ensures and demonstrates that SAN data
paths supporting key applications are free of error, operating
optimally, and have the capacity to fully support growing SAN needs.
The Application Assessment examines packets moving between applications
(initiators) and storage devices (targets), offering valuable insight
into SAN operations. Without this visibility, it can be difficult to
troubleshoot or fully optimize SAN application performance. The
Application Assessment looks at all levels of connectivity to determine
possible communication issues on the network, compares and analyzes
configurations that are most apt to cause intermittent application
performance issues and slowdowns, measures the system's performance,
and assesses the system's overall capacity planning, including the
distribution of the load across the entire
SAN.
SAN Health and Performance Scan
Service
By looking deep into the SAN
infrastructure physical layer, Finisar's SAN Health and Performance
Scan Service, can quickly identify performance and behavior anomalies
and trouble spots on any SAN. The service scans all levels of
connectivity to identify potential communication issues on the Fibre
Channel network and points out potential issues that are on the verge
of or have exceeded the "Fibre Channel rules of thumb" SAN
infrastructure behavior. The customers can then choose to request an
assessment service which takes the SAN infrastructure contextual
information into account to perform a comprehensive analysis of the
data collected to provide detailed performance assessment for capacity
planning and to identify the root cause of potential issues.
