Innovative Fiber Optic Products for Multiple System Operators (MSOs)
Consumers are demanding more and more content to their homes, including data services up to 1 gigabit per second. Small businesses are also looking for increased data rates and higher reliability. Multiple System Operators (MSOs) must increase the bandwidth of their access networks over limited fiber to accommodate these demands. At the same time, headends and hubs are overcrowded with equipment, and MSOs have started green initiatives to lower energy usage. Finisar provides fiber optics solutions for Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) networks, Passive Optical Networks (PON) and Active Ethernet that increase network capacity, save space and reduce power consumption.
Finisar’s wavelength-tunable DWDM, full-spectrum DOCSIS 3.1 transmitters allows MSOs to segment their HFC networks over limited fiber while providing operational savings and wavelength flexibility. These small form factor, pluggable modules can be installed directly into Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP) equipment, further saving space and energy for the operator.
In addition, Finisar provides optical solutions for RF-over-Glass, EPON, GPON and 10G PON. The PON ONU pluggable transceiver, which is certified for DOCSIS Provisioning over Ethernet (DPOE), enables MSOs to flexibly offer PON or Active Ethernet for commercial services.
